LH Project Residency Program

The LH Project, with its remote location at the foot of the Wallowa Mountains in Northeastern Oregon, offers an intimate, private setting for serious, committed artists to nourish their creative development. Artists working within the ceramic medium who have the desire to explore and develop a body of work and a chance to escape the rigors and demands of everyday life may apply for resident-artist status with the LH for the 2010 inaugural schedule and beyond. The uniqueness of the Project’s residency Program lies in the independence of the artist; here an excellent opportunity to really focus and spend personal time creating art awaits those who seek respite from outside distractions.

The LH is prepared to offer housing at the Hurricane Creek Guest Haus and studio space on the Joseph Compound to qualified applicants. Select honorariums are available to assist with material costs, firing fees and living expenditures. Honorariums can and will be awarded based on the individual artist. Artists must go through a thorough application process to determine their possible resident status.

We will offer different types of residencies based on the availability of space and type of residence the individual artist requests. We can then determine the length of stay depending on current circumstances. A residence could be for an intimate weekend workshop, a few weeks to fire the big wood kiln or last up to a year for an involved journey. Again, it is all contingent on the artist and our schedule. Residents will be asked to give a public slideshow during their stay. The resident artist experience should inevitably help enrich and entertain the artistic spirit here in Wallowa County.
